Hudson Yards

The sky's the limit at Hudson Yards

Every now and then, a truly one-of-a-kind assignment comes along – one that gives us the opportunity to create revolutionary work. In 2018, we were approached by a longtime client, real estate developer Related, to create marketing materials for Hudson Yards, a mixed-use development on Manhattan’s West Side and one of New York City’s most iconic new projects. What started as a visualization exercise led to Neoscape’s greatest undertaking to date, a collection of immersive multimedia content to support Hudson Yards’ sky-high experience.

We could have selected no greater partner than Neoscape to help bring this vision to life. Their creative abilities, passionate and dedicated team members, relentless problem solving, and commitment to excellence set a new standard for others to be measured by.

Teasing what's to come

Neoscape was initially tapped to create a film and series of images for the highly-anticipated opening of Edge, the highest outdoor sky deck in the Western Hemisphere. Our challenge: tease Edge without revealing the full experience to come.

A glimpse into
the Peak

Modern chandelier lighting over a refined dinner setup with an aerial view of Manhattan
Cocktail lounge at Peak, featuring elegant seating, a stocked bar, and panoramic city vistas
Live musicians performing inside Peak restaurant with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Hudson River
Elegant dining setup at Peak restaurant, featuring a candlelit ambiance and stunning city views
A stylish event space at Peak with soft lighting, plush seating, and floor-to-ceiling windows

We also produced a series of images for Peak, an upscale restaurant and bar just above the sky deck. Ahead of the grand opening, our 3D team created breathtaking imagery that captured the stunning aesthetic of and views from the space.

Taking the experience to the next level

As we prepared the pre-launch materials, we were invited by Related to submit a proposal for additional multimedia content across several Hudson Yards experiences. While this was a first-of-its-kind project for Neoscape, we knew we were up for the challenge, and Related agreed – awarding Neoscape the most technically-challenging content to develop.

Going on a 'Journey to Edge'

Visitors engaging with illuminated vertical displays in a dark, reflective immersive exhibit
Guests walking through a digital corridor with a futuristic subway projection on the walls
visitors interacts with an educational wall display featuring glowing plant roots and soil
Visitors standing in line at Rockefeller Center with a digital timeline displayed overhead
Guests walking into Edge’s entrance, welcomed by a smiling staff member in uniform

Our greatest undertaking was ‘Journey to Edge,’ an immersive elevator experience which – using 4k projection-mapped animations – tells the story of Edge as visitors take the 1,000-foot trip up to the sky deck and back down. LAB at Rockwell Group led the design of the exhibit while we rounded out the experience with a series of bas relief projections and a fan projection that play before visitors enter the elevator, telling the story of Hudson Yards’ core principles and outlining technical aspects of how the development was built.

Rounding out the experience

As visitors wrap up their journey to Edge, a second immersive elevator ride soars through Hudson Yards. Riders fly over the New York City Highline before landing at Vessel, a Hudson Yards landmark. It’s a trip almost as exhilarating as Edge itself.

The new gold standard

This project was unprecedented in its scale and scope. Over the course of two years, every studio contributed their time, effort, and creativity. We worked with some incredible partners, including Mousetrappe, Eventscape, Yessian, Diversified, and LAB at Rockwell Group, to create a cohesive and truly one-of-a-kind, fully immersive experience. In the end, the convergence of technique, technology, and the right client enabled us to translate this unique assignment into one of Neoscape’s greatest successes.

Take a trip up to Edge and see for yourself how the vision came to life!
